I read about baby boom in Canada. Canada had a big "baby boom" after World War 2, so almost five million Canadians are 65 or more years old. In addition, these days the birth rate has increased. Also, seniors are getting important because they are a good source of child and elder care.
I read this article is U.S Honors Black Law Officer Murdered in 1883. This article takes about a man who lived with honor and died for a black man. He knew what was happening, and he chose to save that black man. That was what he was killed, and 130 year late, the U.S. government honored him for what he did. Randy Lin
I read a newspaper about Plastic grocery bags banning in California.Today plastic bags make some problems and nearly 4 million people live in Los Angeles and they use about 2.7 billion plastic grocery bags a year. Porland, Oregon, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina have also passed bans. but a Los Angeles ban is still a long way off. if Los angeles joins, the movement could spread nationwide.
The news that I read was "Young Immigrants Stay in U.S." The article talks about President Obama said he would like to change the policy for the immigrants if he won the election in fall. But the other candidate Mitt Romney did not mention what he would do about the policy. Some people were brought to U.S. when they were little kids, they fought for the DREAM act and thought new policy is not enough. The government should stop deporting people from the U.S. In my opinion, the U.S. government should not change the policy, it might be good for this illegal immigrants, but might not be good for American citizenship. If every kids came, stayed and wanted to be an American, how does a country handle this problem, and how many money and resource can the government offer? For me, it is a critical problem for a country if there are huge number of illegal immigrants.
The article talks about Los Angeles might be join the movement to ban the plastic grocery bags. People started to use plastic bag since 1977, people use it in many ways, however you can see it everywhere because it is too light, wind blows it easily or people leave it everywhere. Actually lots of places in California have already banned to use plastic bags. I think it is a good idea, it is not only good for not seeing it everywhere but also for our environment. People forget to bring the cloth bags when they go shopping just because they do not use to bring it, but they will getting use to it after a while. To start is always difficult, that happened in my country too.
I read an story on news paper talks about a guy called Wallenda made an amazing history, he crossed the Niagara Falls two weeks ago. He crossed the river by a wire which 1800 feet long. He is 33 years old, for doing this he worked with both nations for two years. Finally, with 112,000 audiences watched he made it. What an amazing story!! Jack
