BYU working to buy “Y” trail

This article describes how politicians are sponsoring a bill that will allow BYU to buy the trail that leads to the Y on the mountain. It discusses the significance of the Y and what BYU would do if it owned the trail. Read and summarize the article or comment on the question below.

The "Y" trail is owned by the U.S. National Forrest Service. Previously, it was owned by BYU, but the government took over the ownership to the land. Do you think that governments should have the right to buy or take property from citizens or organizations? Why or why not?

  1. I do not think the governments should have the right to take property from citizens or organizations, but they can buy it if the owner want to sell. But how can I know if the land it belong to BYU? No body can clarify it. However, I do disagree the governments have the right to take property from citizens, it is the same reason like no body can take away your home door.

In my opinion if both parties are agreed is a good thing to buy and sell, but if not I think we must respect what belongs to the owner.
