This article describes how social media has changed conference experiences for those who use technology to connect with others about their experience at LDS general conference. After reading the article, include a short summary or an answer to the discussion question below.
"How has social media changed how people in your country experience events like General Conference?"
Nowadays, they can watch the conference online, and in the stake. Because, if someone have to take a medical rest in home, he or she can watch the conference in the computer of his/her house. Even I can go to LDS Facebook page to see comments or experiences that I know it can support the talk of the members who talk in the conference.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, for example, a lot of my friends were talking about General Conference on Facebook. I don't have Twitter so I don't know what people were saying there, but I heard that the General Conference were in trends. I think it's good when my friends start talking about important things on Facebook. For example, yesterday, in Brazil, the elections were going on, so I could know more about what was going on there. Even with the News online, I enjoy reading comments about it and be inside of the public opinion.

It said about LDS general conference with social media. Now, SNS(Social Network Service) develop very well. Most people have a Facebook or Twitter. It can make different life, too. When people saw the general conference, they can use the social media. Actually, I don't know exactly what they used, but most important thing is SNS makes our life change.
ReplyDeleteI think social media are changing the mind of the people who assist in a event in my country. It is because now the people when assist a event. They only want to take picture and check in in Facebook. They do not want to enjoy what they are doing, they only want that the people know that they are in the event. I think with the technology in our times. People feel that without it their lives are going to be worst. But I disagree with it. For that reason I think is most important enjoy the event first and after it you can post or tweet or whatever you want to do with the social media.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was child, my family and I had to wait for General Conference magazine to read what the prophet and apostles talked about. Now can see the General Conference at the moment thanks for the technology. It's a blessing because we can receive important instruction from inspirited people that help us to conduct our live for the right way.
ReplyDeleteI think more and more people will share their thought or feeling about the big events such as General Conference on Facebook or their bog. However, they (we) will do that after the events but during it. Most of people still want to focus on watching or listening these events.

In my country, since last year, when people get together to have a dinner, you can see them taking photos and putting the photos on internet every time. people are holding their cell phone anytime, in a diner, Walking, talking, conference, office, anytime, anyplace.
ReplyDeleteNow people also like to use the median tools to experience or apply the event in my country. And the speed is really fast. It is the same seed while you watch. They share their opinions online. it is a good way to use the social media to share the meeting.

I heard my friend was talking because the social media changed, and they were doing some translate on the General Conference in Taiwan. You can image they stayed late to translate for those Chinese in abroad to listen General Conference in Chinese. Randy Lin
ReplyDeleteSocial Media have had a huge social impact in Spain because there are many events against our governments and the organizers of these events usually use Social Media to invite the people in order to participate in these kind of events. Recently, thousand of people went to the downton of Madrid near to the National Congress and this event was announced throughout Social Media.

These days, most people use social network such as tweeter or facebook. When they participate in events like General Conference, they usually use their phone to using social media. They take pictures and communicate with their friends by sending the pictures or by texting. They can share their opinion about the events. I think society is getting socialized, and it is sometimes good, but it could interrupt the events.

It is great to have the technology at our hands to share the Gospel with other, especially the General Conference talks that are wonderful. But I agree with Andrew Potts, that texting, twitting, face-booking can be very distracting. I prefer to concentrate on the conference and feel the Spirit of the messages and then after the conference, use the technology to share it, just like president Utchford said. In my country people now can see the conference on Satellite at the state centers.
ReplyDeleteSocial media has strong influence in my country same as many other countries.
ReplyDeleteToday's technology has been improved for many years. By been improving, individual's life also has been changed. They can do everything with their electric devices. In Korea, there is a one website that can allow you broadcast by your phone or laptop. It has been popular so people broadcast everything such as soccer match, eating food, singing a song.
ReplyDeletetalking about conference. In my contry all the people used to go to the church to watch conference and for the last secion they would not go because it was a little bit far but now all the peop[le dont have any scuese to not watch it, so now every one can watch it though the internet most of the members stay at their houses and watch it there. -- abimael mendez
ReplyDeleteIs affecting the same way as here. Everyone goes with their smartphones and Ipads, they used to take notes and search for scriptures in the book of mormon, but at the same time there always people texting about the conference and tweeting. This distract people from the objetive of listen to the conference. How President Dieter F. Uchtdorf says we can use media to talk about the church, but conference is not the place and not the time. In my opinion during general conference people should pay more attention about the talk than the phones.

Some are in fact connecting with General Conference in today’s media world. It is useful because it has lots of media machines in the world. In my country, we have high quality wi-fi-places so General Conference is common while interfacing with social media.
ReplyDeleteSocial media has changing everything today. Sometimes, most of the people are focused in the event and share later about it. Other times, they keep sharing while there are at the event because they think it is exciting. I prefer to stay focus, in that way I enjoy it the most.
